Do you love Freeschool?  Would you like to help make it happen this year?!  We are looking for enthusiastic organizers to take on the below roles. As an organizer you’d get to attend Freeschool for free and work with a great team of people to put on an amazing event. 

This year's Freeschool will be from Thursday August 27th to Sunday August 30th.  As an organizer, you'd need to arrive a day or two early.

If you’re interested, please email yuill |at| waldegrave.org by June 1st, and indicate what role interests you, why you’re interested, and what makes you qualified.  If applicable, please attach a resume.  

COOK (Yuill is heading up the kitchen once again this year, but he needs a sidekick or two!)

Responsibilities:
•    Helping design the menu and sourcing local ingredients
•    Coordinating meals for 100 people over 4 days!
•    Arriving at least one day before FS begins.  

Skills required:
•    Experience cooking for large groups
•    Works well in a fast paced environment
•    Organized and flexible
•    High energy, enjoys people
•    Experience coordinating volunteers

HOST

Responsibilities:  
•    Ensuring people feel welcome and have the information and tools they need to have a positive FS experience.
•    Designing and facilitating opening and closing sessions of FS.
•    Communicating and coordinating with the rest of the FS Team before and during FS.
•    Arriving one day before FS begins.  
•    On the go problem solving and changing courses.
•    Communicating with participants for announcements and instructions.

Skills required:
•    Comfortable speaking in front of a crowd.
•    Experienced at facilitating large groups
•    Experience in/talent for process design
•    High energy, enjoys people
•    Strong communicator.  
•    Experience organizing events an asset.

REGISTRATION - We have found someone for this position!

Responsibilities:
•    Send out Freeschool Announcement email (template and addresses provided)
•    Answer questions via email leading up to FS.
•    Keep track of who has registered and other details (bursary recipient, vegetarian)
•    Update FS rules and guidelines and ensure they are available and visible.
•    Collect money when people arrive at FS and ensure everyone signs a waiver.  
•    Communicate and coordinate with the rest of the FS Team before and during FS.
•    Arrive one day before FS begins.

Skills Required
•    Organized
•    Comfortable with spreadsheets
•    Comfortable asking people for money
•    Access to internet
•    Strong communication skills
•    Experience organizing events an asset.

PROGRAMMING - We have found someone for this position!

Responsbilities
•    Keep track of workshops and communicate with presenters if they need guidance/help to ensure the workshop is engaging, effective and in line with the FS mission statement.
•    Encourage people to do workshops, and ensure there is a good balance of workshops on different topics.
•    Work with the rest of the FS Team to find a strong keynote.
•    Work with the rest of the FS Team to build other special events into the schedule as appropriate (group work project, outdoor outing, etc)
•    Make up the online FS Schedule and post it a week before FS starts.
•    Make (or coordinate with volunteers to make) a large, visually impactful poster of the schedule for FS participants to review once they arrive.
•    Communicate and coordinate with the rest of the FS Team before and during FS.
•    Arrive one day before FS begins.

Skills required:
•    Organized
•    Strong communicator
•    Knowledge of social and environmental justice issues in the Maritimes an asset.
•    Experience organizing events an asset.
•    Graphic design/poster making/artistic skills an asset

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR - We have found someone for this position!

Responsibilities
•    Ensure everyone signs up to volunteer in the kitchen and help with either set up or take down.
•    Find volunteers for other key tasks.
•    Communicate and coordinate with the rest of the FS Team before and during FS.
•    Arrive one day before FS begins.

Skills required:
•    Organized
•    Strong communicator
•    Enjoys working with people
•    Experience organizing events an asset.

GROUNDS COORDINATOR

Responsibilities
•    Coordinate volunteers for FS set up
o    Preparing workshops spaces
o    Distributing bales for seating
o    Ensuring safety measures are in place (ex fire extinguishers)
o    Tidying composting toilets and ensuring they’re well stocked with TP etc
•    Coordinating volunteers for FS clean up.

Skills required:
•    Organized
•    Strong communicator
•    Good team leader
•    Handy with tools, machinery an asset
•    Arrive 2 days before FS begins

MUSIC - We have found someone for this position!

Responsibilities
•    Seek out one or two musical act(s) to be performed during FS.
•    Coordinate music for dance party Saturday night.

Skills:
•    Connections with musicians in the Maritimes.
•    Experience setting up and taking down equipment (mics, amps, etc).
Experience organizing musical events an asset.
